
Kelly Clarkson, in full Kelly Brianne Clarkson, (born April 24, 1982, Fort Worth, Texas, U.S.), American performer, songwriter and TV personality who emerged as a pop-rock superstar after having won the telecast talent competition American Idol in 2002. Clarkson was raised at Burleson Texas (a suburban area within Fort Worth), where her talents in singing were first observed by her 7th grade class teacher. Clarkson dropped out of high school to move in Los Angeles where she failed to get a job in the world of entertainment. After returning home in Texas In 2002, Clarkson competed on the Fox Broadcasting Company's American Idol. This singing competition gave viewers the chance to choose their top performer. Clarkson received a lot of praise from viewers because of her infectious voice and funny sense of humor. Clarkson won $1 million, and also a contract recording deal in partnership with RCA for her winnings.
