Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington (Greek American) is a Greek American writer, syndicated-columnist and a businesswoman. She is a co-founder of The Huffington Post the founder and CEO of Thrive Global and the author of 15 books. Arianna Huffington is a writer, philanthropist TV personality, and the owner of the independent liberal online newspaper The Huffington Post. Born in Greece she moved to England when she was 16 and was able to graduate from Cambridge University with an MA in Economics. The first graduate of non-UK origin to be elected the president of The Cambridge Union at the age 21. She was a conservative syndicated author after her graduation and, when The Huffington Post launched a year following, she launched an online voice platform which gave criticisms of the political landscape. She was able to get several notable contributors to post their opinions on culture and politics. Arianna gained fame following her decision to contest as an independent presidential candidate during the California recall election in order to replace then Governor Davis. Aside from that she was the leader of the Detroit Project to promote fuel-efficient vehicles. The project was named 12th on Forbes' list of the most influential female journalists. The same year, Guardian listed her among the top 100 figures in media. In 2011, AOL Inc. bought The Huffington Post and made her president of the media company, which also included a number of that were then AOL brands too, like Engadget AOL music Style list as well as Patch Media. Elli was the youngest daughter of Konstantinos journalist, and a management consultant. They were very close to her father. It was her relationship with her mother who shaped her. She displayed leadership qualities from the beginning. In her 16th year, she began studying in England in the United Kingdom at Girton College Cambridge. She was a member of in the Cambridge Union college debate society during her time at college and was the first woman to serve as president. She graduated in 1972 with master's degrees in Economics. In the years following after graduation she worked as an anchor on television and a columnist. Her appearance in Face the music with Bernard Levin was also notable. She started writing books and enlisting his assistance with editing.
