Swallow was born in Jacksonville Florida. She received her bachelor's degree from the University of Virginia, where she did her research in Middle Eastern Studies. Swallow's roles in film and TV have included a character on Ringer and the mother of a cop in Southland. The bounty hunter, too, was a part in the CBS Pilot The Odds. She also performed as a mermaid for Flight of the Conchords and starred in the independent feature The Rift directed by Shana Sosin.
